Case Study: Tailored Storage Solutions for Quarry Plant manufactures Expansion in Omagh
Introduction
In an ambitious endeavour to bolster its warehouse capabilities, Telestack, a distinguished manufacturer of mobile quarry and aggregate equipment, including stackers, crushers, and screening equipment, embarked on a considerable expansion project. Recognising the need for a bespoke storage solution to underpin this growth, Telestack engaged Toddsleap, a trusted partner known for delivering cutting-edge storage systems. This case study details the collaborative journey between Telestack and Toddsleap, highlighting the design, implementation, and outcomes of the sophisticated storage solution at Telestack’s new state-of-the-art warehouse facility located in Omagh.
Client Background
Telestack is a local leader in the manufacture of mobile quarry and aggregate equipment, celebrated for its innovation and quality. With a clientele spanning the globe, the company is proud to employ a substantial number of staff from the local area, making a positive impact on the local economy. The expansion project was not only designed to increase production capacity but also to enhance operational and storage efficiency, reflecting Telestack’s commitment to excellence and sustainable growth
The Challenge
The primary challenge lay in conceiving and implementing a multifaceted storage solution that optimised space utilisation and operational efficiency at Telestack’s new warehouse. This involved integrating high-bay, narrow aisle pallet racking systems for indoor storage and developing a robust outdoor storage solution for chassis components. The project required a phased execution to facilitate the seamless transition of stock and ensure continuity in operations.
Solutions Implemented
Toddsleap devised a comprehensive storage solution, incorporating several key elements:
· High-Bay, Narrow Aisle Pallet Racking: Sourced from Mecalux, these systems were chosen for their effectiveness in maximising space, facilitating high-density storage, and streamlining inventory management, within the Stores area of the Warehouse, Coupled with a NarrowAisle Aislemaster forklift we were fit to reduce the aisle widths to below 2000mm, and bays upto 10.5m
· Dismantling and Reinstallation of Existing Racking: To accommodate the move and expansion, Toddsleap methodically dismantled existing pallet racking and reinstalled it in the new warehouse in phases. This strategy minimised disruptions to Telestack’s operations.
· Steel and Timber Decking Solutions: To increase the versatility and safety of the racking systems, Toddsleap supplied additional decking solutions, enabling the storage of a wide range of products and materials.
· Outdoor Double-Sided Cantilever Racking: A bespoke cantilever racking solution was implemented outdoors, offering efficient storage for Telestack’s sizable chassis components. The introduction of load rails on the lower levels further expanded the storage capacity, accommodating smaller pallets.
· Future Expansion Plans: Toddsleap and Telestack are already planning subsequent phases of the project, which will include the installation of galvanised pallet racking for outdoor pallet storage, further bolstering the facility’s storage capabilities.
